He is a god who dwelled in the clouds. He was supreme and a benefactor god. He kept the heavens at a distance from the earth and ornamented it with stars. When the earth was flat, Waaqa asked man to build himself a coffin. Man did so and Waaqa shut him up in it and buried it.
For seven years he made fire rain down. This is how the mountains were formed. Waaqa then danced upon the place where the coffin was buried and man sprang forth, alive. He was sure he had slept for a brief moment only and was shocked to find it had been so long and earth had changed so much; this is why man is awake for most of the day. Eventually man grew tired of living alone.
Knowing of man's loneliness, Waaqayoo took some of his blood and after four days, the blood turning into a woman whom the man married. After sometime Woman grew feeble from malnutrition for she was unable to eat food. One day Woman grew with a strange desire stabbing at her skin and twisting her gut with a hunger she could no longer control. First Woman bite her husband, first Man, and drank his blood.
As punishment, the children Man hid away were turned into animals. To correct his mistake, Waaqa told Woman to give Man her blood and they will be one in the same. Woman became Great Woman and First Wak; Queen and King of Waks.
Waaq then fashioned another set of Man and Woman whom would serve as Companions, or Lammii, to the Great Man and Great Woman. There dhiinga were created especially for Great Woman and Great Man. In return for feeding the Waks they would receive benefits from the enzymes in the saliva of the Waks. These enzymes supple perpetual vitality and strength and it seals the bond between Companions. This will be so for all descendants of Waks and Humans.
